The New Orleans Saints delivered a brutal beat down of 28-10 to the Carolina Panthers Thursday evening at Bank of America Stadium.
Coming into this game, the Panthers (3-5-1) were standing at the top of the NFC South. After the loss to New Orleans (4-4), they now fall back to second place in the shakiest division in the NFL.
The first half showed signs of a defensive showdown as
each team traded turnovers for the majority of the half. Neither team
capitalized on these opportunities until Mark Ingram finally broke the
goal plane with a 3 yard run late in the 2nd quarter.
While this game had a slow first half, the second half showed that the Saints came to take control of the NFC South as Drew Brees led the way for the Saints putting together 299 total yards.
Cam Newton pulled together an early third quarter touchdown run to pull the Panthers within one possession, but it wasn't enough to stop Mark Ingram from breaking the goal plane for a second time to secure the victory for the Saints.

Thursday Night Football - Saints vs. Panthers Preview
The Carolina Panthers are clashing with division rival New Orleans Saints tonight at Bank of America Stadium on Thursday Night Football.
The Panthers (3-4-1) are considered a better team on the standings sheet compared to the second place Saints (3-4). The NFC South has had no sense of stability this season, and all four teams in the division are below .500.
While the NFC South is considered the worst division in the NFL, it creates hope for both of these struggling teams coming into this game. These two teams hold the first and second place positions in the NFC South, which gives this mid-season game a lot more weight.
The key for the Panthers in tonight's game will be to shutdown New Orleans pass game. Drew Brees is the power house behind this deadly offensive passing game. He is a game manager, and his performance tonight will determine the outcome of this game.
The key for the Saints tonight will be to contain Cam Newton. Newton makes his most devastating plays when he escapes the pressure, and gets loose down the field. One large run from him tonight could change the outcome of this game.
